A defibrillator is a device that gives a high energy electric shock to the heart through the chest wall to someone who is in cardiac arrest.  It is a fully mobile unit, kept inside a heated cabinet to ensure that it is kept in full working order.  No formal training is necessary for using this device as once it is removed from the cabinet, full instructions are given, both spoken and with diagrams.

Feltwell Parish Council purchased it’s first defibrillator back in 2017 which can be found on the outside wall of The Londis, 2 High Street, and another in December 2022 with a donation from Feltwell Community Group which is housed outside the Social Club, Paynes Lane.  The third was purchased in May 2023 with a grant from the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and is situated outside R H Lindsays, Old Methwold Road.  We are extremely grateful for all three organisations for accommodating the defibrillators and absorbing all associated electricity costs.

The Parish Council has since purchased two more defibrillators with grants from the Department of Health & Social Care, match-funded by donations from Feltwell Community Group. These are situated outside the British Legion, Long Lane and outside Feltwell Surgery, Wilton Road. Our thanks to both organisations for allowing these to be installed on their premises and to the British Legion for absorbing the running costs of the defibrillator there.
