ARE YOU SUPPORTING SOMEONE WHO IS ILL, FRAIL OR DISABLED? ADVICE IS ON HAND AT THE CARER MONEY MATTERS ROADSHOW:-
FELTWELL PLAYING FIELD, WEDNESDAY 10TH SEPTEMBER, 2.30 PM – 4.30 PM
‘Charity camper van tours Norfolk with money advice for families affected by illness and disability
This September Caring Together Charity will be hitting the roads of Norfolk with free support for local families where someone in the household is disabled or has a long-term illness. The charity will be offering help and advice about reducing energy costs this autumn and managing financially as a carer for a family member (or friend) who is ill or disabled.
Caring Together is a regional charity supporting people across Norfolk, as well as Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. The tour is part of the ‘Carer Money Matters’ project which gives free advice to unpaid carers and those they look after.
“We know that it can be difficult to visit somewhere to get help if you live in a rural area”, explained Project Worker Claire Rogers, “so we are coming to you! Anyone can just pop along for some advice and help. There’s no need to book.”
The Camper Van will be visiting towns and villages across Norfolk from 8-11 September. Locations include North Walsham, Downham Market and Thetford. The full list of locations and dates is available at
“Unpaid carers often struggle financially,” said Claire Rogers. “They may have additional costs due to needing to keep the home warm for someone who is ill, or transport costs to hospital. Unpaid carers also often have to reduce work hours or stop working to care. This can leave them reliant on benefits. We want to make sure people get the help they are entitled to.”
As well as giving advice the team will be distributing free Carbon Monoxide Alarms to eligible households, and providing information about other support available from the charity and other organisations such as Carers Matter Norfolk.’
